Your new company Our client manufactures electronic test equipment and measuring instruments for electrical power applications.

Your new role The Hardware Design Engineer will contribute to existing product maintenance and assist in the new product development programmes for a range of portable test instruments for the installation and maintenance of electronic equipment that requires embedded control solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Carry out electronic circuit design to specification; this includes simulation followed by rigorous laboratory testing. Review and/or carry out PCB layout using appropriate software tools. Detailed documentation of designs in circuit schematics and descriptions. Compile BOMs for best fit for design requirements regarding function, cost, and noting implications for and around obsolescence. Work with firmware and mechanical engineering disciplines in new project design activities. Ensure that all work, including design files and other information (e.g., debugging and modification records) are kept up to date and recorded as per company quality assurance requirements and applicable international standards. This includes daily notes in personal logbooks.

What you'll need to succeed Essential: The successful candidate shall be degree qualified (2nd class or better), or HND/HNC, in Electronic Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of electronic products, preferably in the measurement and processing of low-level analogue signals. Skills in both analogue and digital electronic design are required. Desirable: Knowledge of quality and design standards (e.g., ISO 9001 (2015), IEC 61010, IEC 61557, MIL Spec etc.). Proficient in Altium ECAD design toolchain. Application of DFT, DFM, FMEA, Value Engineering techniques. Use of design & simulation tools e.g., SPICE, MathCAD, Matlab, Simulink, Simscape.
