Job Purpose The post holder will work closely with the Head of HE to complete a range of management tasks consistent with the role of Lead HE Quality Manager. The post holder will lead on the effective implementation of the College’s drive to provide outstanding success for its learners, employers, and community stakeholders. The Lead HE Quality Manager will support the implementation of changes arising from new college policy and exercises this responsibility through close working relationships with the Heads of Institute. The postholder will lead the management of college quality assurance arrangements relating to continuous monitoring of subjects, programmes, and modules and support the development, validation, and modification of programmes. These arrangements include programme validation and modification, periodic review of courses, module evaluation & student feedback, performance analysis at module and programme level. Key Responsibilities The Lead HE Quality Manager will collaborate closely with the Head of HE and other Registry staff to ensure the effective governance of quality and related processes across the college. They will take a proactive role in supporting academic staff by providing both close support and constructive challenge, ensuring that quality processes are consistently implemented and aligned with college priorities such as NSS, MEQs, and OfS metrics. In this role, the Lead HE Quality Manager will prepare documentation and materials for formal approval by appropriate HE committees and actively contribute to HE deliberative structures, ensuring compliance with their terms of reference. They will also conduct observations and walkthroughs of learning activities, in line with the Quality Assurance and TLA strategy, while working closely with the Research and Scholarship Manager to share best practices in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. Managing the internal quality improvement process is a key responsibility, ensuring consistency across all areas of provision and minimizing risk. The Lead HE Quality Manager will lead on staff development related to quality policy and processes, including the creation of training materials, resources, workshops, and providing one-on-one coaching. They will review external examiner reports, monitor their receipt, and ensure actions are taken promptly, while recognizing and promoting good practice. Additionally, they will ensure that quality arrangements with collaborative partners are effective, intervening where necessary, and providing reports to committees and senior management as required. The role also involves supporting HE registry panel activities and assisting with external and internal audits, providing necessary reports and evidence. Lastly, the Lead HE Quality Manager will take personal responsibility for their own development as a manager, continuously enhancing their professional knowledge. Person Specification GCSE English & Maths Grade C or equivalent Experience of developing, implementing, and managing effective systems, policies, and procedures, planning and outcome monitoring Experience in administration preferably in a higher education setting Educated to degree level or an equivalent academic or professional qualification Ability to develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant quality assurance regulatory frameworks and requirements, and translate them into practice, providing authoritative and effective advice and guidance to staff and students.
