The role We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of AM Business Application Engineering with deep expertise in building data ecosystems in an Asset Management environment. As a strategic leader, you will be responsible for driving technical innovation, managing product teams, driving modern ways of working, and ensuring the successful delivery of cutting-edge products and services. You will be accountable for the delivery of Asset Management's technology ecosystem through a significant period of transformation and enabling a suitable support model for a mature Asset Management function which is core to the success of the wider Phoenix Group. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the technology and transformation organization, guiding the design, development, and deployment of cloud-based data solutions. Define best practices, standards, and frameworks for architecture, change, development, and operations. Build and lead diverse, cross-functional teams in a collaborative, agile environment and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and empower team members to achieve their full potential. Partner with key delivery leads to ensure technology is integrated into multi-disciplinary delivery teams whilst maintaining engineering excellence. This will include active collaboration with key business stakeholders across Asset Management. Champion and lead the cross-functional teams to architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on our cloud platforms. Drive the adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and serverless technologies. Ensure alignment with business objectives and technical requirements. Development and Implementation: Oversee the development and implementation of software solutions, leveraging Python programming for backend modern technologies development, data processing, and automation tasks. Champion best practices in software engineering, code quality, and testing. Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and security components. Utilize AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, and others to build resilient and scalable cloud environments. DevOps and Automation: Drive the adoption of high standards of DevOps practices and automation tools to streamline development workflows, increase efficiency, and enhance reliability. Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and configuration management techniques. Use metrics to transparently show performance and throughput of the changes as they flow through the development timeline. Performance and Scalability: Monitor and optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based systems in our data ecosystem. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and address issues. Continuously optimize costs and resource utilization. Security and Compliance: Ensure the security and compliance of all cloud environments, implementing robust access controls, encryption mechanisms, and maintaining compliance frameworks. What are we looking for? Significant exposure to Asset Management, Trading, or a similar financial environment with platform engineering experience. Proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex data solutions, with expertise in order management systems and quantitative engineering platforms such as Charles River, Aladdin, and Beacon. Experience in delivering enterprise-grade data ecosystems such as Snowflake or Databricks. Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Exposure to reporting tools and integration via APIs (e.g., Quicksight, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI). We want to hire the whole version of you.
