Abbey Lodge is a 23 bed care home in

Hythe, Kent . The home has been running for the last 25 years and has gained one of the best reputations in the area for elderly residential care. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent care for each of our residents and instilling that ethos into our staff. The home has lovely sea views of the English Channel and is on the A259 with good transport links. We have a 'Good' CQC rating (January 2019). We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, and innovative individual to adapt their skills to Abbey Lodge to provide a quality of care which is 'outstanding'. The candidate must be passionate about providing quality care, enjoy working in a care home environment, and fit into the ethos and operations of the home. The successful candidate must have good experience working in a management position in a care home or domiciliary service and experience managing systems and staff. An eye for detail is important, as is the ability to analyze how current operations can be improved in innovative ways to enhance the care that staff give to the residents. Job Summary Provide support to the Registered Manager/Owner and ensure the home provides and maintains the highest levels of care and service in accordance with the company's mission, vision, policies, and procedures. Be responsible for the allocation of roles and tasks within the Home and maintain its effective operation at all times while maximizing available resources. Work with other professional colleagues to ensure the residents' best interests are identified and plans established to meet them. Manage and respond to home emails when required. 24-40 hours a week. Covering shifts across the week. 24 hours standard unless the Registered Manager is on leave - requiring full-time management cover of 40 hours per week. On-call duties. Main Duties and Responsibilities Staff Management Monitor staff performance and record absenteeism, working positively to maintain high standards of both, to be reported to the proprietor. Work within the senior care/management team to carry out staff performance supervisions on a quarterly basis. Assist the Registered Manager in the recruitment and appointment of staff at the Home within the company’s Recruitment Policies/Guidelines. Organize and take minutes for quarterly staff meetings. Direct line management of senior carers. Be involved and adjudicate in staff disciplinary procedures. Compliance Ensure Health and Safety at Work Act responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Company procedures. Liaise effectively and appropriately with other relevant professional agencies. Oversee Health and Safety, infection control, and policy audits/reviews. Assist in the management of Quality Assurance procedures. Liaise with the CQC and comply where appropriate with such requirements. Quality Care Ensure the home provides and maintains the highest levels of care and service in accordance with the company's mission, vision, policies, and procedures. Manage and oversee electronic Medication systems including: 4-weekly ordering and stock management, staff administering of medication, adapting and developing the wider electronic medication system to adhere to compliance on medication, staff medication assessment. Ensure person-centred care plans are established, renewed, maintained, and implemented for all Service Users. Liaise with a range of professionals (G.Ps, District Nurses, social workers) from outside the home to support and improve the care of the residents. Be responsible for ensuring that the Home is kept in a clean, tidy, and well-maintained condition and that maintenance/necessary repairs are resolved in a timely manner using the appropriate trades list used by the company. Offer professional supervision and support to staff as required. Lead and organize quarterly residents' meetings. Carry out any other duties as may be deemed necessary, which are consistent with the basic objectives of the post. Essential Qualifications/Requirements NVQ 3/4 in Health & Social Care. Level 5 or willing to work towards the qualification. Driving Licence. No more than 30 mins drive from Hythe for on-call requirements. Experience: Senior care or care home management: 1 year (required).
