Description Head of Category/ Senior Procurement Lead

Lead the commercial strategy for the category area, change programs, and supply chain resilience. Oversee high-value contracts and major supplier relationships to secure the best outcomes for the Trusts. Collaborate on national, regional, and procurement initiatives, with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Contribute to the development and implementation of Senior Procurement strategies, supporting the Trusts' business plans. Manage a small team procuring goods, services, and capital equipment, achieving the best possible financial outcomes for the Trusts, based on whole-lifecycle costs. Build collaborative partnerships and deliver cost-saving strategies in alignment with the Trusts' productivity goals. Accountable for driving commercial negotiations with major suppliers of equipment and services as well as planning negotiation strategies. Resolve commercial dispute situations, including supporting engagement with third-party legal advisors in respect to resolving contractual issues. Undertake contract reviews, assessing supplier performance against contractual obligations. Deliver against agreed annual cost reduction targets and report on action taken, taking specialist responsibility for specific Departments and product categories. Manage commercial risk in the areas of responsibility. Deputise for the Deputy Procurement Director. Profile A successful Head of Category/ Senior Procurement Lead should have: A degree level education or equivalent experience. Proven track record in strategic procurement and competence at a senior level leading on a category and driving the strategy. A track record of working in a complex stakeholder environment where you can challenge and support key stakeholders. Experience in market engagement and developing category strategies. Experience of leading a team in a hybrid environment to deliver results. Minimum 3 years' direct involvement in Procurement at a senior level within the NHS or another public sector environment. Experience of managing complex tenders, end-to-end procurements, and commercial arrangements. Experience in influencing decisions and building highly effective relationships. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team. Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. Understanding of procurement legislation and regulations, confident in PA23. Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear reports. Job Offer NHS Band 8B Circa 62,000 - 72,000 per year dependent on experience. A rewarding role in a leading public sector organisation. Comprehensive benefits package.
