The post holder will provide strong personal and professional leadership across all professional disciplines within pharmacy. As part of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, will deputise for the Head of Operational Pharmacy Services (HOPS) and the Chief Pharmacist (CP).
Main duties of the job
Lead a team of pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy staff, providing professional and strategic direction. Oversee and optimise clinical pharmacy services across the Trust, ensuring safe, effective and efficient practices. Accountability for clinical governance within pharmacy, with specific attention to the safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines. Accountability for all medicines policies across the Trust. Oversee all clinical pharmacy audits and research, ensuring alignment with best practice. Drive service improvements, including enhanced ward presence and innovative approaches within clinical pharmacy. Lead on medicines management strategy, interpreting legal/national guidelines and establishing compliant policies. Serve as clinical lead for major incidents and business continuity incidents in pharmacy. Act as deputy for CP and the HOPS in managing pharmacy services. Participate in either the Pharmacy or Silver on-call rota.

Essential
Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent) and full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy practice or equivalent Evidence of ongoing professional development including relevant clinical, leadership and management training
Desirable
Qualified independent prescriber Recognised qualification in management, healthcare leadership or similar
Experience
Essential
Significant experience in Clinical Pharmacy within an acute NHS hospital, demonstrating advanced practice and leadership in Pharmacy services Proven track record of managing clinical governance, medicines safety and quality improvement initiatives Demonstrable experience in line management and staff development, including appraisals, recruitment and performance management
Desirable
Extensive experience as a clinical educator or postgraduate tutor Experience in research leadership, including initiating and overseeing practice-based research and securing funding
