Our client is a reputable and forward thinking logistics and distribution company based in Coventry. Due to expansion, they are now recruiting a Head of Commercial Contracting.

THE ROLE

This is a senior role, operating as head of department within the commercial contracting function of the company. The primary focus of this role is to take full responsibility for the commercial contracting function and work closely with customers/suppliers, relevant authorities, industry bodies/representatives, and/or other function heads of departments within and beyond the UK&I business, to ensure they are driving the business forward in line with customer requirements and strategic/tactical priorities. This position plays a critical role in adopting and encouraging a growth mindset within the business, supporting group wide transformation projects and the wider European alignment teams, whilst striving to achieve the company ambitions. In addition, this role is responsible for the assessment, design, implementation and review of all new ideas from concept to reality. The role will require an energetic and enthusiastic person to motivate and drive the commercial strategy and bring it to life. This function of the business will support new business development and customer retention, focusing on contracting, pricing, streamlined onboarding processes, and all other commercial contracting aspects. This role is responsible for developing the company’s presence in the relevant and/or targeted sectors within the industry, assessing and implementing appropriate commercial opportunities for the business within the FMCG market. This position is responsible for the full commercial contracting function, working within a team of heads of departments to drive the business forward whilst delivering a full, end-to-end contracting framework.

With experience of tender management, you will be confident in your decision making within a commercial framework that will enhance the performance of the company. You are inquisitive and will take the initiative to learn about each area and workstream within the business to provide informed, insightful and relevant information. You are adept at managing ambiguity while maintaining the confidence of those around you. You have the ability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with longer term planning. You are resilient, energetic and enthusiastic, with the ability to deliver results in a complex and fast paced environment, whilst responding constructively to challenge or new ideas.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Previous experience within a logistics and FMCG environment Proven track record of implementing new ideas, processes & transformation successfully Process management ISO 9001 experience Extensive team management including corporate business profile & environment Change and transformation management in relevant line of work Advanced Excel, Microsoft Suite CRM, Power BI Good strategic thinking skills, including accurate analysis, rational thinking Self-motivated with a desire to achieve high standards and growth within the team The ability to inspire a team to work with drive and energy Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery Strong negotiation and influencing skills The ability to work on own initiative based on rationale driven by evidence and operational/financial data Being able to motivate, empower and engage teams Excellent presentation skills incorporating brand identity Strong commercial and diverse contracting methodology application including a variety of value propositions in a dynamic and ever transforming business environment Strong analytical skills and able to use data to drive analysis and results In return you can expect to receive: Highly competitive basic salary Car allowance or Car Bonus BUPA Westfield Health Scheme Generous holidays Excellent training Excellent progression Pension Parking
