Job Description:
As Head of the Criminal Law Department, you will manage a team, oversee all department cases, and drive business performance. This role offers an opportunity to engage deeply in the operational and strategic decisions of the firm, making it ideal for someone with a strong interest in the business aspects of legal practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the performance, welfare, compliance, and training of the Criminal Law team
- Manage the department’s caseload, ensuring high-quality client representation
- Maintain control over the income and expenditure of the department
- Drive efficiency, effectiveness, and growth within the department
- Ensure regulatory and statutory compliance across all departmental activities
- Collaborate with Directors on firm-wide business decisions
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as a Criminal Solicitor, capable of handling an independent caseload
- Strong leadership skills with the enthusiasm to motivate and develop team members
- Business acumen with an interest in the operational and financial aspects of legal practice
- Commitment to regulatory compliance and high standards of client care
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to department growth and client acquisition
