Head of Design - Windows, Doors & External Insulation

We are currently partnering with a large well-established company that manufactures, supplies, and installs windows, doors, and external insulation systems to the commercial building sector. Due to continued success, they are seeking a Head of Design to join their team in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Responsibilities

Oversee Design Development:

Lead the design team in developing detailed and compliant designs for windows, doors, and insulation systems, ensuring they meet client specifications, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all designs align with the company's manufacturing and installation capabilities.

Coordinate with Sales and Project Management Teams:

Collaborate closely with the sales and project management teams to understand client needs and project constraints. Ensure that design solutions are tailored to meet these requirements while also being feasible within the given timeline and budget.

Ensure Product Innovation and Improvement:

Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies. Lead initiatives to continuously improve existing products and design solutions, as well as develop new, innovative offerings to stay competitive in the commercial building sector.

Manage Design Process and Workflow:

Establish and manage the design process from concept to final approval. This includes overseeing the creation of detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and prototypes, and ensuring that each project progresses smoothly through all design phases with the appropriate documentation.

Quality Control and Compliance:

Ensure all designs are rigorously tested for quality, durability, and safety standards. Review and approve all final designs, verifying that they meet industry standards, regulations, and client requirements before they move into production or installation phases.

Lead and Develop the Design Team:

Manage and mentor the design team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth. Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team stays updated on the latest design software, construction trends, and product knowledge.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Project Management or similar role within fenestration or aligned industry

Recognised qualification in construction (e.g. HNC, HND, relevant degree)

Driving licence

Benefits

£65,000-£75,000 + Package
