The Role

This is an exciting, forward-looking prep school DT opportunity. We are looking for an excellent and open-minded practitioner to participate collaboratively in a re-appraisal of how DT and Art can and should create an interdisciplinary environment not just for self-expression but also for critical thinking, evaluation and problem-solving. You will show the flexibility of approach and creativity to work with the Head of Art to develop a curriculum that equips pupils with such creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary skills and which will, therefore, help them to thrive in the most innovative and forward-thinking senior schools. The ambition for the Art & DT curricula is that they will be collaboratively designed to foster pupils’ problem-solving abilities, encourage exploration across fields, and build the confidence needed to pursue bold, pioneering paths during their education and beyond. This role has the potential to be either part-time (minimum 0.6 timetable) or full-time, based on the candidate’s preferences, strengths, and other offerings. If seeking full-time, candidates should be able to offer a second subject. There can be some flexibility as to what this is. The ability to coach Games (football, rugby and/or cricket) would be an advantage but is not essential. Please could applicants make clear in their covering letter whether they seek full-time or part-time, which second subject they could offer if seeking full-time and to what level they would feel comfortable doing so, and/or whether they would want to offer Games coaching. The School

The Pilgrims’ School is a leading, selective day and boarding boys’ prep and double choir school in a beautiful and historic ‘city meets country’ setting in Winchester. It is a vibrant, lively school where boys aged 4 to 13 are encouraged to find their passions and nurture them, whether that be in the classroom, science lab, music room, art room, sports fields, at Forest School or beyond. Nestled between Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College, and Wolvesey Palace, the School occupies a superb site in the historic Cathedral Close. We enjoy the use of the picturesque Wolvesey playing fields and the sporting facilities of Winchester College. With our choral foundations, the School encourages musical achievements in all its pupils but also excels in academic endeavours, sport and the arts. We enjoy an enviable local and national reputation. How to Apply

To apply, you may visit our school’s vacancies page via the Apply button, where you will find an application form and further information. If you have questions about the post, please email Mrs Abigail Hawkes, HR Manager, on

recruit@pilgrims-school.co.uk . Applications will only be accepted from candidates completing the application form in full, along with a covering letter (no more than one side of A4). We are not able to accept CVs as an alternative to the application form. Closing date: 12pm on Thursday 30th January 2025 Interview date: w/c 10th February 2025 Early applications are encouraged. Candidates are encouraged to review the school’s full Recruitment Policy and Safeguarding Policy, both of which are available to download from the school website.
