This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. Learning Experiences and Innovation Learning Experiences & Innovation (LXI) is the ‘go-to’ service across the Exeter learning community in uplifting our students, academics, staff and partners to co-create a distinctive learning experience where every learner thrives. The teams work alongside and in support of several portfolios focussed on the University’s key strategic aims (Online Education, Education Strategic Delivery, Innovation Piloting and Scaling, and Taught Portfolio) and the priorities of its Faculties (Environment, Science and Economy; Health and Life Sciences; Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences). LXI is part of the Education and Academic Services (EAS) Division. EAS brings together all the key administration and educational support that underpins the student and educator experience. Alongside LXI this includes Faculty Operations, Sport, Arts and Culture and all elements of Education and Student Support. Summary of the role

The Head of Educator Development is an exciting role leading the Educator Development team. The team works with staff across all areas of the university and all its campuses to undertake pedagogical research, shape education strategy and policy, develop and deliver training and guidance to teachers and learners at all stages of their career, and support education innovation and excellence both at the institution and across the sector. The post-holder will lead the team in these activities through contribution to working parties, steering groups, and other strategic education meetings, working particularly closely with the Vice-President and DVC Education and Student Experience, Dean for Taught Students, and Dean for Postgraduate and Online. The Head of Educator Development will oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of education data, and use these data to inform team activities and recommendations for pedagogical practice and student support across the institution. The post-holder will also lead on institutional activities relating to the recognition of teaching excellence amongst our educational staff; this includes acting as the Teaching Excellence Awards Lead for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme and providing oversight for institutional opportunities such as the EduExe seminar series and conference. In addition, the Head of Educator Development is the Director of the Advance-HE Accredited EduExe Framework overseeing accreditation of programmes leading to HEA status. The Head of Educator Development will play a vital role not only in realizing goals associated with the Education Strategy, Success for All, Student Experience Framework, but also in supporting alignment with Faculties. Because this work involves collaboration across so many departments and teams, the post-holder will need to work flexibly and innovatively, where relevant using a matrix management approach.
