Role Overview: As Head of Faculty of Social Sciences, you will play a key role in shaping the vision and strategy for the department, working closely with senior leaders and staff to ensure that high-quality, engaging, and innovative learning experiences are delivered to all students. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration, reflection, and continuous improvement within the team. You will also be involved in exciting work to enhance the celebration of culture, faith and diversity at the School. Key Responsibilities: Lead, inspire, and support a dedicated team of Social Sciences teachers in the delivery of high-quality lessons across a range of subjects, including Sociology, Psychology, and Politics. Oversee curriculum development and ensure that teaching strategies align with the latest pedagogical best practices. Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform decisions and interventions that drive attainment and personal growth. Lead professional development opportunities for staff, promoting a culture of ongoing learning and reflective practice. Collaborate with school leaders to shape departmental goals and initiatives that contribute to the school’s wider vision. Act as a role model for excellent teaching practice and contribute to the mentoring and coaching of colleagues. Foster strong relationships with parents, guardians, and external agencies to support students' success. Take responsibility for the recruitment and retention of students within the Social Sciences faculty, ensuring the continued growth of the department. Who We Are Looking For: A qualified and experienced teacher with a passion for Social Sciences and a commitment to student success. Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of driving improvement in teaching and learning. Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues. Experience in curriculum development and the use of data to inform teaching practice. A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving. Experience in coaching or mentoring colleagues would be an advantage. A strong commitment to inclusion and diversity in education Pay We are willing to offer a highly competitive salary, to be negotiated on the Lead Practitioner Scale.
