The Head of Finance – London & Hub is a key leader within the management team, responsible for providing strategic financial insight, coaching and guidance to the regional management team. This role involves driving financial performance, ensuring robust financial controls, and delivering insightful financial analysis to support business decision-making across multiple properties and brands within the region. They will be versed in both operations and commercial best practice within a hospitality setting and adept at providing clear direction and pathways in solving complex issues. A role less ordinary. Key Responsibilities: Financial Strategy, Planning and Analytics: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the region, aligning financial plans with the company’s strategic objectives. Partner with regional leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that align with overall company goals and drive profitability. Root cause underperformance and adopt corrective actions following a structured way of problem solving. Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models tailored to the hotel industry to support business planning and decision-making. Enable effective and critical decision making through counsel and clear and polished templates. Conduct variance analysis on financial performance, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Apply clear ownership, escalating to the regional lead. Prepare and present detailed financial reports and insights to senior management and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and standardisation across the region. Management of edyn’s risks (VULOPs) and aligning appropriate courses of action (mitigation and exploitation). Business Partnering: Act as a strategic advisor to hotel operations and other business units, providing financial insights and recommendations to optimize performance. Collaborate with hotel general managers and regional directors to support financial planning and drive profitability. Develop and track financial KPIs specific to hotel operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Support the development and evaluation of business cases for new projects, investments, and initiatives. Support timely execution of key business initiatives to ensure focus on performance culture. Strategic Initiatives and Planning: Act as a trusted advisor to senior regional management, offering insights and strategic recommendations to drive profitability and efficiency. Consider the art of the possible and alternative scenarios and assumptions, linking back to edyn wide goals and strategy. Lead or participate in special projects aimed at enhancing financial performance or operational efficiency. Be a catalyst of change, an owner of performance improvement. Facilitate budget planning and resource allocation aligned with business goals and objectives. Provide clear oversight, ensuring appropriate level of diligence for business cases, introducing the correct templates and performing post implementation reviews (which are embedded back into business processes and routines). Contribute to the development and execution of long-term financial strategies, including expansion and capital investment decisions. Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Drive cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the finance department. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the financial acumen and skills of the team. Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure robust financial controls and processes are in place across the region to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations. Take overall regional accountability to ensure the control environment is good or better. Lead internal audits and work with external auditors for P&L owned areas, to ensure adherence to the highest financial standards. Monitor regional cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to optimize financial health. Who you are. Chartered Accountant or Management Accountant (or equivalent), with first time passes. 7+ years of post-qualified experience in finance, including significant experience in financial analytics and business partnering. Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing finance teams. Proficiency in financial modelling, ERP systems, and advanced Excel; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and Analytic modelling (e.g. Cognos Planning, TM1) is a plus. Extensive experience (5 years +) in Hospitality is mandatory, ideally within extended stay or hybrid sectors. Based at Bristol or London offices, with travel to clients, our sister offices and edyn properties. We manage our people to outcomes but expect you to be at your place of work (home office, property or another edyn location) 3 days a week or more (~per our agile work policy). We expect this role to lead from the front, with a strong leadership presence amongst the teams. There will be a fair amount of travel to property knowing that localisation and insight is critical to role. Why grow with edyn?
