Continuing with OCU Groups significant growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Group Payroll to join the organisation based in Stockport. As the Head of Group Payroll you will be responsible for developing and leading a group-wide payroll function, building a team and platform as required to enable scalability and integration of acquired businesses, ensuring data is captured accurately, efficiently and robustly, minimising use of excel and implementing process and system improvements. Duties and Responsibilities Working closely with HR team for benefit reporting Day-to-day management of a small payroll team responsible for: Operating the payroll of 11 entities across the group, plus future acquisitions, using Payrite Payroll Processing starters & leavers, ensuring all statutory deductions and third-party payments are made Collation of timesheets and overtime payments Communicating any payroll changes to the business Distributing correspondence to employees related to role (Pay slips, P11d’s, P60’s) Ensuring accuracy of information for HMRC Submitting monthly Pension to the Pension Providers Preparing cost journals for PAYE Payroll Compiling monthly and yearly reports Preparing PAYE reports for audit & legislative requirements & costing analysis Ensuring compliance in line with HMRC requirements Resolving employees queries regarding payroll Supporting the annual external audit process Skills and Experience Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative; enthusiastic with ‘can do’ attitude, knows what good looks like. Great communication skills - this person will interact across all levels of the business, including senior operational and commercial leaders Proven record in managing centralised Payroll functions and ability to work to deadlines Strong knowledge of payroll processes with high attention to detail Compliance oriented but understands business needs Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems (Word / Excel / Outlook) Payroll / software experience (Payrite / Mitrefinch Time and Attendance / Microsoft Dynamics 365) Company Information Established in 1994, OCU Group is one of the fastest growing utility engineering contractors in the UK, with a long successful track record in delivering engineering solutions.
