Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is dedicated to driving continuous improvement and excellence in healthcare. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Improvement to join our team and lead the development and delivery of our Improvement Strategy.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Improvement will provide leadership, development, and delivery of the Trust's Improvement Strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall Trust Strategy. This role involves developing and delivering training programmes to build continuous improvement capability across all staff levels and supporting the deployment of the Trust's Strategy throughout the organisation.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full-time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full-time permanent contract unless you have:

applied for a Graduate visa or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to master's level or equivalent experience in the field of change management, programme management, and improvement, such as Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Accredited Lean or similar improvement science qualification Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Coaching qualification Training qualification

Experience

Essential

Significant experience in delivering improvement and transformational project/programmes with evidence of leadership and management in the NHS and/or social care setting Experience of applying structured programme management processes Experience of putting into practice the strategy and associated plans for a specific change or complex programme of change Experience of working effectively with cross-departmental teams and organisational and system boundaries with competing priorities to deliver significant change

Desirable

Experience in a continuous improvement system, ideally in the NHS Previous experience of working in an Acute Healthcare environment. Experience of working with leaders in Integrated Health Systems Experience of senior management and executive level coaching

Knowledge

Essential

Highly specialist knowledge, application, and experience in improvement science, change, and programme management Knowledge of developing and deploying complex strategies in complex organisations Knowledge of best practice training approaches Expert knowledge and experience of managing staff, acquired through training and experience

Desirable

Knowledge of programme management office (PMO) processes and procedures Knowledge of NHS financial budget management
