Permanent, full time. Protecting Northern Ireland’s energy and water consumers today and tomorrow is what we do. This is an exciting time to join us, as we are expanding as an organisation so that we can fully support Northern Ireland in meeting the challenges of climate change, the cost-of-living crisis and ensuring the continuity of energy and water supplies. Electricity, gas and water are essential services that support all homes and businesses in Northern Ireland. As an economic regulator, it is our role to enable, incentivise and hold energy and water companies to account for providing the very best levels of service and price for consumers both now and in the future. You’ll be joining an organisation that is growing and transforming to meet the challenges of the future and protecting consumers in a changing world. Head of Legal

Working as the Head of Legal within the Utility Regulator, you will support our Chief Executive, Board and Senior Leadership Team. You will be responsible for leading an effective and professional team of legal advisors providing high quality legal advice and support to the Utility Regulator on areas of strategy, policy development, governance and compliance issues. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of functions, leading and maintaining professional engagement with key external and internal partners for the Utility Regulator’s regulatory, investigatory and enforcement work, and actively contribute to the delivery of our aims and objectives. General information

Northern Ireland continues to have an under-representation of women across our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) industries. The Utility Regulator is an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer. As people with a disability, people from ethnic minority communities and women are currently underrepresented in the Utility Regulator, we would particularly welcome applications from these groups. We offer an attractive package including a competitive starting salary with stepped increases per annum, alongside a range of other benefits including hybrid working, NI Civil Service (NICS) pension arrangements and 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after two years) and an additional 12 public and privilege days. Contact us at recruitment@uregni.gov.uk if you would like to talk to someone about the work we do and what it’s like working here.
