£85,000+ depending on experience with executive benefits What you’ll be doing: Leading the Manufacturing Engineering functional activities to ensure that manufacturing and quality match customer and shareholder expectations through design-to-manufacture for new products, upgrades, and ongoing manufacturing operations. This includes the duty for ensuring that Advanced Product Quality Planning is integrated into LCM’s usual operations. Authority for Systems approach to Manufacturing Engineering, specifically the policies and procedures, delegation of authority and licensing, people and capability development to ensure the lines of business have suitably experienced and qualified people and mature technology to deliver operational excellence and help manufacturing deliver competitive edge on strategic bids and opportunities. Coordinating the Manufacturing Engineering contribution strategy and business plans by working with and influencing the lines of business and key functions to secure IBP approval through the capability, people and technology plans. Leading a community of practice through the HoME quarterly reviews to drive commonality, best practices, and corporate alignment that feeds into the global Manufacturing Council. Maintaining a cross-sector view of resource requirements throughout the lifecycle of projects, coordinating internal resources with sector leads, and managing interfaces to external recruitment sources. Creating a methodology with Engineering and Quality to shift ME influence to the left in the CADMID lifecycle, which includes concepts and practices from Advance Product Quality Planning. Working with and influencing the Lines of business to develop technology roadmaps and manage the relationship into the UK Catapult network to develop key strategy technologies through the technology readiness level (TRL) process. Your skills and experiences: Essential: Requires a thorough understanding of several Manufacturing Engineering sub-disciplines. For Project / Business Delivery Organization roles, is not always the ‘expert’, but is capable of managing ‘experts’ and discussing and comprehending the context and ramifications of technical difficulties across a variety of Manufacturing Engineering sub-disciplines and sectors. Requires a thorough awareness of how sub-discipline Manufacturing Engineers are organized and managed, as well as how they interact with other disciplines. Requires a thorough understanding of the customer and their needs, as well as knowledge of industry techniques and standards. Knowledge of the group manufacturing technology themes is required, as well as a thorough understanding of how they interact with other parts of the business and external organisations. Has a certified safety qualification and a thorough understanding of how to use a safe work system in practice. Desirable: Possesses a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant STEM discipline. Holds a recognized project management or business qualification. Chartered engineer status (CEng) or the willingness to pursue towards. The Manufacturing Engineering team: The goal of Manufacturing Engineering is to develop, implement, and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly, disassembly, and repair (including verification methods) that can meet customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost, and delivery throughout the product lifecycle while adhering to design intent. As Head of Manufacturing Engineering in the Chief Technology and Information Office (CTIO), you will oversee and lead the Manufacturing Engineering Capability across all sectors. Why BAE Systems?
