Purpose of the Role:
This will be a Fixed Term Contract for 18 months covering a maternity leave.
The Head of Margin Management will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive pricing & margin management strategies to maximize revenue and profitability across our retail operations.
The role requires a strong analytical mindset, extensive experience in pricing strategy and margin management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The role is responsible for optimising financial performance through leadership of the Pricing 2.0 programme and procurement initiatives, and involves overseeing the financial analysis and monitoring of pricing and ranging initiatives to maximise profit margins across the organisation.
The Head of Margin Management will work closely with the Heads of Revenue Management to ensure consistency in approach across our pricing and promotional strategies, and collaborate with other departments (operations, marketing, and procurement) to ensure that margin objectives are achieved while maintaining high-quality standards and customer satisfaction.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in margin management, financial analysis, pricing strategies, or related roles within the hospitality or food and beverage industry. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven recommendations. In-depth knowledge of pricing strategies, cost control methodologies, and revenue optimisation techniques. Familiarity with financial systems, forecasting tools, and data analysis software. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsbilities - Duties and Respomsbilities:
Margin Analysis and Reporting:
- Lead periodic analysis of sales data, profit margins, pricing and promotions performance to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks Prepare detailed reports and presentations on margin performance, highlighting key findings, and communicating actionable insights and recommendations to senior management. Develop and maintain margin management metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track progress. Lead partnership with Procurement team to negotiate favourable suppliers terms and ensure that procurement processes are efficient, costeffective, and aligned with the company’s financial objectives.
Pricing Strategy and Optimisation:
- Lead the core Pricing 2.0 process to ensure agile, ‘always on’ assessment and execution of core pricing at site/product level across our estate. Responsible for groupwide pricing strategy & relativity between brands and formats as well as application at site and band levels. Use data analytics and field trials to identify opportunities for pricing improvements and revenue enhancement, with support of Head of Data and Analytics Lead implementation of ROI analytic process to optimise promotional activity across the estate, with support of Head of Data and Analytics Work with revenue management colleagues and operations teams to assess competitive pricing/promotional strategies and impact Lead communications of Pricing 2.0 outcomes to the business alongside any pricing projects or workstreams that operate across Stonegate segments
Simplification and Efficiency:
- Lead the simplification of pricing systems and infrastructure within Stonegate (ongoing OpenR work, price survey tooling and upcoming PIM workstream) Implement best practices, automation, and standardisation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting and analysis.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and manage a team responsible for margin management, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities. Collaborate with other department heads to align margin management initiatives with broader organisational goals and strategies. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the margin management team and across the organisation.
