The school provides education for secondary students from Year 7 - 13. The school is located in a beautiful Grade 2 listed building with state-of-the-art facilities. There are up to 100 children on roll at this school located over two nearby sites. There is also a primary school where most of the children progress to this secondary school when finished. All children who attend this school have an EHCP. Children at the school have a range of complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties and challenging behaviours. Many pupils have a diagnosis of autism and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Some pupils have moderate learning difficulties or speech, language and communication needs. About the Role - Head of Maths - Wakefield, West Yorkshire You will be a well-qualified, highly motivated secondary teacher with an undergraduate degree and teaching degree in Maths. You must have recent experience of teaching Maths in Secondary schools following the British curriculum. Prior experience working in an independent school or Special Needs school is not essential, but will be beneficial. Staff do receive training. This is a Head of Maths post, so it would be ideal if you have been a Head of department previously. You will have good communication skills and be committed to inspiring and motivating students. You should have excellent subject knowledge and credentials. You must have QTS. You should be enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. You'll be working with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and you will be there to help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem.
