Academics are seeking an experienced Head of Maths / experienced Maths Teacher, ideally with experience of teaching students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), to join an established SEMH School in New Milton. This is a full-time, term-time contract to start in September. They are happy to consider candidates looking for either a permanent or temp to perm contract. The school is based in New Milton and caters for pupils aged 7-16 years who find mainstream school difficult. They were classed as a 'Good' school by Ofsted in 2019, where they stated that: “Pupils make strong progress during their time at the school and most are able to successfully return to mainstream schools. Many pupils achieve significant improvements in a relatively short period. The carefully crafted culture of the school and its curriculum enable many pupils to make strong progress in their social and emotional development.” The school prides itself on recognizing the barriers to education of their young people. Using detailed assessment packages, specific targeted work, coaching, and self-reflection, they challenge and teach young people how to manage their emotions whilst maintaining academic progress. Issues can include inadequate social skills, self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation, or empathy, or any combination of these. They work to help young people develop socially and emotionally to unlock their personal barriers to learning as well as life itself. You will be responsible for monitoring the academic progress of all pupils in Mathematics, encouraging high aspirations and achievement, and ensuring the quality of teaching. You will also be required to plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across the school to meet the pupils' individual learning levels. Experience of teaching children with social, emotional, and behavior needs (SEMH) is essential. If you are looking to secure a new contract for September and feel you would be suited to this position, please apply using the link provided.
