The post holder will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education Teams, Library/Clinical Librarian Services and Operations team to ensure that performance objectives are met. The Head of Medical Education Management will have responsibility for the promotion, monitoring and continuous improvement of the quality of Postgraduate and Undergraduate Medical Education within UHL. The post holder will deputise for the Director of Clinical Education at UHL and external meetings and committees. The post holder will lead on the provision of faculty development for senior clinicians within UHL. Main duties of the job

To have overall responsibility for budget setting and monitoring of financial performance for the Postgraduate Education Centres, Libraries and other designated cost centres (10 cost centres - £1.85m). To agree annual cost improvement plans (c£280k) with budget holders. To have overall line management responsibility for Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical Education, Library/Clinical Librarian Services and Operations team in Clinical Education. Ensure that all aspects of performance, absence, training and appraisal are addressed in accordance with Trust Policy. About us

Job responsibilities

Have responsibility for advising and implementing processes across UHL to ensure Trust compliance with national policies including GMC and NHSE directives. Provide support and expertise to CMGs to ensure that UHL meets timescales and benchmarks set by external stakeholders against these policies. In conjunction with the Director of Medical Education, lead on the review, updating and implementation of UHL's Medical Education Strategy. Responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of local policies relating to education. Provide complex information, written reports and data as requested by the GMC, NHSE or UHL Executive team relating to UHL's compliance/performance against local and national standards. Develop and maintain communication with staff, internal/external stakeholders on complex matters, issues and ideas and/or in complex situations. Communicate effectively, accurately and confidently on behalf of the Director of Medical Education at committees, forums and meetings within UHL and with external stakeholders. Communicate sensitive information to staff relating to management of change initiatives. Organise faculty development programmes with internal and external providers to meet GMC requirements for supervisors. Please see attached job description for further details. Person Specification

Training and Qualifications

Experience

NHS experience within an educational environment at senior level for at least 3 years. Extensive knowledge of UG and PG medical education. Analytical and Judgement

Ability to synthesise and prioritise complex and potentially conflicting demands. Proven experience of all aspects of budget management. Communication

Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to convey complex information. Ability and vision to build and manage effective relationships with stakeholders. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust £62,215 to £72,293 a year / Pro-rata for part time hours.
