We are looking for an exceptional candidate to develop, own, communicate and oversee the execution of a consolidated strategy for Mobile Access Engineering - covering the design, planning, delivery, optimisation and performance of radio and backhaul assets. Reporting directly to the Director of Mobile Access Engineering, with regular exposure to the CTO senior leadership team and collaborating with all functions across the company, the role is central to defining a direction of travel for VMO2's mobile network and answering many exciting questions on this journey.

This is a leadership role and will be responsible for managing a small team (both line and matrix management).

Strategy development:

Support the Director of Mobile Access to develop a long-term vision for mobile network evolution, based on long-term customer, technology trends and business requirements Formulate a robust 3 year strategy for the mobile network, including key constituent parts such as capacity, coverage, spectrum, transmission, delivery, optimisation and performance Develop and refresh on a regular basis analysis on competition, industry, market and regulatory trends Ensure strategic thinking within MAE is aligned to needs of the business (corporate strategy), customer/product strategy and aligns with the company and vendors' technology roadmap (CTO divisional strategy) Strategy execution:

Maintain strong focus on strategy execution by translating strategy into a list of initiatives that can be governed (tracked & managed) to ensure progress Ensure developed strategy is translated effectively into a 3 Year Plan and the mobile capex is prioritised in line with strategy guiding principles Provide support to teams across MAE to ensure their respective plans and activities are aligned to strategy Forward looking mindset:

Have on eye on the future to ensure the impact of emerging technologies and industry/market trends are captured in mobile strategy Proactively identify gaps and risks that may hinder successful implementation of strategy

The must haves:

Strong understanding of mobile network technologies (radio, transmission and core) and a robust appreciation of underlying technical complexities Comprehensive track record in strategy development and execution, preferably gained in the mobile telecoms sector Able to articulate clearly the strategy to the wider Mobile Access Engineering team, the CTO team, the rest of the business and the wider industry Be a champion for change and for evangelism of VMO2's Mobile Access Network Experience of successfully managing teams with members working across a range of topics; ensuring effective management and professional development

Exceptional modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into CxO level insights Ability to see the 'big picture' by connecting dots from different areas/projects Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, able to work at all levels of the organisation, with a track record of being able to distil complex themes and strategic recommendations into concise messages Strong project management skills with the ability to set realistic but aggressive deadlines and manage resources, in both direct and virtual teams, to deliver high quality outputs on time
