Job overview

You will be a senior member of the management team of the Estates and Development service and be responsible for providing a proactive customer-focused operational estate function by leading and managing the Estates Maintenance team, Minor Works and Contract Management, Environment, Sustainability, Energy, Waste, Grounds, Compliance and Business Systems and Switchboard. Main duties of the job

You will assist the Head of Estates and Development, and other colleagues, in the development, implementation and delivery of the estate master plan ensuring that we continuously improve working methods and business systems to ensure that our estate is fit for purpose, and that all providers/contractors who support our estate are managed effectively. You will be responsible for analysing and developing solutions to a wide range of estates issues, whilst ensuring that the department operates and functions effectively within all relevant legal, regulatory and advisory frameworks. You will ensure that all risks are identified, addressed and mitigated, or notified appropriately. You will also act as an Authorised Person (AP) in a discipline or disciplines to be agreed based on experience and be expected to participate in the on-call managers rota. You will manage the estates budget, ensuring value for money, produce an annual work plan for your areas of responsibility, produce and present reports up to board level, and undertake the full range of managerial duties, including for any human resource management issues as required. Qualifications

Degree level qualification in an estates/facilities related subject or equivalent experience Management qualification or significant management experience and training Evidence of continuing professional development NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Certificate Possess or working towards Chartered Status or membership of a professional institute, such as IHEEM, CIBSE, HEFMA or IET Experience

Significant senior management experience in an NHS Estates function (alternative relevant sector experience may be considered) Experience of managing large budgets and financial outcomes and targets Experience of managing and maintaining estate using directly managed staff, contractors and by applying specialist knowledge and advice Ability to evaluate, develop and implement processes, systems and procedures Knowledge

Comprehensive understanding of risk management Understanding of the maintenance of estate in areas such as planned and reactive maintenance Comprehensive knowledge of CDM regulations/H&S legal framework and statutory legislation Skills
