The Role
The Head of Operations is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of our seafood manufacturing factory. This role involves ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, a passion for process improvement, and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
Salary Range: £85,000 - £96,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Duties Include:
Operational Management & Continuous Improvement
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, labour and other key measures of success
Lead daily and weekly operational meetings, such as Daily Directional Setting (DDS) to oversee daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
Team Leadership
Manage, mentor, and develop a multifunctional high-performing operations team, promoting a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support team members' growth and development.
Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to achieve operational goals.
Culture
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning among the workforce.
Support the development of a Quality Culture, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards and customer specifications.
Promote a safe working environment through regular training, audits, and risk assessments, role modelling what great looks like.
Act upon colleague feedback through our annual survey, leading Colleague Forums, and driving the site action plan.
Skills & Experience Required:
Required
Significant experience in a senior manufacturing leadership position, with responsibility for multiple functions.
Broad knowledge of FMCG manufacturing processes, including chilled and ambient products, and dealing with major retailers and own-label products.
Demonstrable experience in delivering significant improvement projects, including CAPEX.
Desirable
Proven experience in the seafood or a similar industry is highly desirable.
IOSH qualification
Food safety level 4
