Reporting to the Area Heads of Ambulance Operations, the Head of Operations is the senior role model and local leader for the respective County within the South Western Ambulance Service geographical footprint. The Head of Operations will provide strong leadership in an open supportive culture and will drive and create priorities and objectives and be accountable for all aspects of County business. The Head of Operations has line management responsibility for the Operations Manager and County Business Manager but is responsible for the health and well-being of all staff working in the respective County. Main duties of the job

The Head of Operations role will provide the Executive Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Operations and the Area Heads of Ambulance Operations with support, acting with integrity and professionalism at all times. The Head of Operations is a full member of the Operations Directorate senior management team and as such will be expected to participate fully and constructively in all aspects of Directorate business. This will include assisting in making decisions that impact on the wider Directorate and Trust. The post holder will be expected to work closely with other Heads of Operations colleagues to reduce variation, improve performance and introduce best practice across the Operations Directorate. The post holder will be expected to join the on-call tactical rota (or strategic dependent on organisational needs). The Head of Operations will interpret, apply and evaluate procedures, processes and instructions, in order to ensure that the highest standards of service are achieved in the interest of patient care. Education & Qualifications

Educated to degree level or equivalent Advanced Driving qualification IHCD qualified and HCPC registered Paramedic, or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse, or equivalent. Experience

Significant operational experience within an NHS Ambulance Service Demonstrable leadership experience at a senior level Experience of leading teams Emergency Planning experience Disclosure and Barring Service Check
