The teams in this portfolio include Patient Safety, Serious Incident Investigators, Clinical Effectiveness, Resuscitation, and Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression teams. Main duties of the job
Organisation-wide post, the post holder will work closely with all clinical and non-clinical staff across the organisation to: Develop, implement and sustain the Trust’s clinical governance and quality programmes. Co-ordinate and strategically lead the Trust’s patient safety, clinical effectiveness and audit department. Lead the patient safety and clinical effectiveness teams in planning and implementing effective service developments. Work in close collaboration with the Clinical and Governance Team and Network Triumvirates. Provide responses in partnership with the networks for all requests for information or submissions to NHSI, CQC, HSE and NHSLA. Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness: Strategically lead and manage the Trust’s patient safety and clinical effectiveness team. Formulate the Trust’s strategic plans for patient safety. Ensure maintenance and monitoring of clinical standards. Provide highly specialist advice, support and guidance to clinicians. Co-ordinate special investigations into serious clinical incidents/adverse events. Deliver training across patient safety and clinical effectiveness. Co-ordination and strategic management: Co-ordinate and strategically manage clinical effectiveness and patient safety. Responsible for strategic planning and development of new reporting systems. Leadership/Management: Provide leadership and direction to Networks in monitoring compliance. Manage sickness, absence and leave in accordance with Trust policy. Complete appraisals and staff PDR aligning service objectives to the role. Responsible for direct management and recruitment of Audit & Effectiveness Team, Patient Safety Team. Person specification
Education / Qualifications
Educated to masters level or equivalent Relevant professional qualification (Legal, Healthcare, Quality Assurance) Recognised management qualification or equivalent experience Evidence of participation in improvement skills and leadership development programmes Experience to doctoral level Doctorate in relevant area Experience
Working in a healthcare setting Extensive senior management experience in the NHS, social care or private sector Leading internal and external audits, reviews and inspections Experience of managing multiple projects across a large organisation Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
