Head of PE

to lead our Physical Education department, ensuring high-quality PE provision and promoting physical health and well-being across the school. The Role:

The Head of PE will play a key role in shaping and delivering the PE curriculum, managing a dynamic team of PE staff, and fostering a love for sport and fitness among students. You will ensure a balanced and inclusive curriculum, organize extra-curricular sports activities, and work closely with other departments to promote physical health and active lifestyles. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and inspire the PE department to deliver outstanding lessons and promote physical education across the school. Develop and implement an engaging, inclusive, and broad PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students. Organize and oversee extracurricular sports clubs, teams, and competitions to ensure maximum student participation. Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring all students have the opportunity to excel in PE. Promote the values of teamwork, leadership, and resilience through sport and physical activities. Work closely with SLT to develop and deliver the academy’s strategy on physical health and well-being. Ensure PE facilities and equipment are maintained to a high standard and fit for purpose. Collaborate with external partners, sports organizations, and the local community to enhance opportunities for students. Person Specification: A passion for sports and education, with a commitment to promoting the physical well-being of students. Qualified teacher status (QTS) with significant experience teaching PE. Proven leadership experience within a school or PE department, with a track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire both students and staff, fostering a culture of excellence in sport and physical education. Experience in organizing and leading extracurricular sports activities and events. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. Why Us?
