9 years . Hear from our team about what it's like working at Policy Expert. The Role Pet is Policy Expert's newest product and you'll be setting the underwriting strategy for the business. This role reports directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer and works closely with the senior leadership team to deliver our ambitious growth targets for the business. Your day to day: Build and lead the underwriting function for our Pet products. At both the strategic and tactical levels, you will provide expert knowledge and insight to the wider Underwriting team and the Policy Expert business as a whole. Key accountabilities include: Development and implementation of underwriting strategy. Build and lead a dynamic pet underwriting team aligned to growth objectives. Development and ownership of our Pet underwriting footprint and rules. Provide technical guidance to the wider underwriting team and stakeholders including Claims. Input technical and behavioral developments and trends (e.g., pet health developments, economic changes, claims process developments) into pricing and underwriting strategy and processes. Manage escalated case level referrals. Development and implementation of underwriting governance and compliance framework. Collaborate closely with the Chief Pricing Officer to optimize our underwriting footprint and technical and retail pricing. Work with the Chief Risk & Reserving Officer to optimize risk exposures and identify and respond to emerging trends and issues relating to underwriting and loss ratio performance. Collaborate with the Head of Product to deliver market-leading products and services based on your knowledge of market influences and best practices, competitor behavior, emerging risks, and legal and regulatory developments. Liaise with partner insurers to propose and implement underwriting changes that optimize the underwriting proposition. Act as the key point of contact with senior stakeholders internally and externally for all Pet underwriting-related matters. Who are you: A minimum of 5 years' experience performing a senior underwriting role in the Pet market. Strong knowledge of Pet underwriting philosophies across our peer group and the wider market. Strong knowledge of health and claim trends. Ability to demonstrate underwriting thought leadership and implementation. Strong numerical and analytical skills and experienced user of relevant software. ACII or progress towards, mathematical/analytical degree at 2:1 or above.
