Head of PI/ Actions Against the Police & Public Authorities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Claimant PI & Actions against the Police & Public Authorities including Inquest representation, HRA and Equality Act Claims to lead our Actions Against the Police Department. The successful candidate will oversee a team of legal professionals, manage a caseload of complex matters, and provide strategic guidance to clients seeking redress for civil liberties violations, police misconduct, and related legal issues. Your Profile: Extensive experience of supervising and leading a team with a background in successful CFA work. Knowledge of LAA requirements and LASPO. Would consider LAA qualified supervisor who could develop into the role over time. Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in handling actions against the police and related legal matters. Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role, demonstrating leadership, team management, and strategic planning skills. Deep understanding of civil liberties, human rights law, and the legal framework governing police conduct and accountability. Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal issues and develop effective strategies. Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to represent clients effectively in various forums. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Commitment to upholding ethical standards, professionalism, and integrity in all aspects of legal practice. We would like the ideal candidate to: Lead and manage a team of solicitors and legal assistants specializing in actions against the police. Oversee the handling of complex legal matters, including civil claims, judicial reviews, and appeals related to police misconduct and civil liberties violations. Provide strategic advice and guidance to clients on their legal rights, options, and potential outcomes. Conduct thorough legal research, analysis, and case preparation to support client representation. Develop and implement case strategies to achieve favourable outcomes for clients, including negotiation, mediation, and litigation when necessary. Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to facilitate effective communication and advocacy. Ensure compliance with legal standards, regulations, and ethical guidelines in all aspects of case management and client representation. Stay updated on developments in relevant areas of law, precedents, and best practices to enhance the department’s expertise and capabilities.
