We are currently recruiting for Head of Production Planning & Controlling to join our Production Team based in Telford. You will deliver operational excellence across a broad variety of products that provide security for the nation by leading a highly competent and professional team. In your role as Head of Production Planning & Logistics, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing the discipline’s strategy, overseeing the production plan’s efficient operation, and making sure delivery is in line with both strategic business requirements and customer needs. Head of Production Planning & Logistics, will play a crucial part in maintaining and developing the Production Planning and Logistics capabilities, including people, processes, and toolsets. Position Duties and Responsibilities Leading and inspiring a large team of planning and logistics professionals. Driving manufacturing performance improvements through effective planning. Developing people and processes to ensure long-term improvement and sustainability. Providing governance and leadership within the Production Planning & Logistics discipline, including Procurement Planning. Defining and implementing strategies to ensure people, systems, and processes meet current and future business challenges. Controlling and integrating manufacturing assumptions, facilitating scenario modelling, and recommending operational priorities. Operating in a multi-project environment, enabling strategic decision-making by challenging potential plan changes. Developing and managing an effective decision-making forum within the manufacturing Sales and Operations process. Controlling ERP system inputs and outputs to ensure effective logistical support for material and product flow. Managing external supply chain operations via Procurement to meet customer and internal requirements. Acting as the System and Manufacturing data owner, providing Planning Control and Logistics support to operational teams. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

Essential skills: Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Extensive operational experience with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and customer needs. Experience in high-rate production with a focus on process automation and digital technology. Proven ability to lead cultural, technological, and operational transformations. Strong leadership in workforce development, engagement, and safety. Experience leading teams in a unionised environment. Ability to drive operational excellence and solve complex issues. Customer-focused with a strong record of accomplishment in improving satisfaction and productivity. Experience in production planning within a large manufacturing organisation. Familiarity with the effective use of ERP systems in low to medium volume manufacturing environments. Certified in Planning and Inventory Management. Experience leading large teams through change in a complex and regulated environment. Experience implementing and operating an effective Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
