About the role
The Head of Quality, Health and Safety is a critical leadership role within our business, ensuring our companywide operations are conducted and managed in line with best practice and current legislation. You are a well-established subject matter expert who is experienced in creating a safety-first culture within a construction and manufacturing environment.
You will join a dynamic team delivering an exceptional service to all stakeholders. Your role will support colleagues and the wider business with all aspects of stock control and provide a professional, efficient and expert service. You will own and maintain our compliance, training and management systems and processes and ensure we operate efficiently, safely and legally. You will have exceptional attention to detail, be highly organised and able to communicate and influence positively at all levels of the business. As Head of QH&S you will embed a culture of safety, continuous improvement and compliance throughout the organization.
This is a full-time role with a requirement to be present at our Clevedon site throughout each week. You may be required to travel elsewhere in the UK from time to time. The role is part of our Senior Leadership team and reports to the Managing Director.
Summary of responsibilities
Evaluate working practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to current legislation across all sites
Ensure enforcement of appropriate policies throughout our operation to further develop a safe working culture
Manage and address actions identified from all internal and external health & safety audit findings
Investigate all accidents, incidents and/or near misses to identify root causes and mitigate against repeat occurrences
Drive the creation and management of health, safety and compliance monitoring systems throughout the workplace
Maintain all company accreditations such as ISO and Constructionline
Own and maintain the online health, safety and compliance database in line with operational needs
Report on all health & safety metrics as well as the progression of key deliverables monthly
Ensure appropriate training, engagement and communication is in place for all employees around all aspects of Health and Safety
Work closely with other functions to support best practice across the company in line with legislation and policy
Keep up to date with industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes, adapting polices and practices as required
Qualifications, skills and experience
Demonstrated expert within a comparable industry at Manager of Head of level
Extensive knowledge of health & safety legislation, guidelines and risk assessments
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues in a time efficient manner
Team Development, cross-functional collaboration, and project management
Current holder of relevant certification in and health & safety management
Excellent communication and prioritisation skills with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and to strict deadlines
Strong IT skills with a proficiency in MS Office
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality, Health & Safety management roles in a relate field
Hold a NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent
Experienced in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Member of IOSH (preferred)
Experienced in ISO 14001 (preferred)
Full UK driving license
