We are looking for a Head of Research Delivery and Support for Out of Hospital Settings to join the team. This senior leadership role will focus on the strategic oversight, deployment and delivery capabilities of the RRDN's Agile Research Delivery Team. This role will work alongside the Head of Partner Liaison and Planning to co-lead the work of the Study Support Service Team with a focus on out of hospital settings.
This role will liaise with NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) research Delivery Organisations (organisations delivering RDN portfolio research) across all settings to ensure they are effectively supported by the Agile Research Delivery Team.
This role has oversight of the Regional RDN (RRDN) Study Support Service, with respect to out of hospital settings, which will be seamlessly integrated within the collective national Study Support Service and interfacing Agile Research Delivery team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for fostering and nurturing productive relationships with regional partners including both commercial and non-commercial study teams/sponsors, research site delivery personnel, and senior research leadership within Delivery Organisations. This includes collaborating closely with Regional Specialty and Setting Leads to support the delivery of regional and national projects.
In addition to regional duties, the post holder will collaborate with senior counterparts from other RDN regions and the national RDN team to innovate and evolve services, aligning them more closely with the changing needs of the system.
This post holder will lead dedicated teams in the provision of Out of Hospital services, ensuring seamless coordination with other services/functions within the regional network and across the national network. This role will line-manage the senior manager of the Agile Research Delivery team and direct the agile team's resources to meet strategic needs.
Full time: 37.5 hours per week.

In October 2024, the NIHR Clinical Research Network changed to become the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN). The RDN will build on the successes of the CRN in supporting the effective and efficient initiation and delivery of funded research across the health and care system in England for the benefit of patients, the health and care system and the economy.
The RDN Will Support:
Clinical trials and other well-designed health and social care research studies (including studies that are delivered outside of an NHS setting);
Public health studies that require the recruitment of individuals within an NHS setting (that is, acute, ambulance, mental health, community or primary care) or an episode of care which involves contact with the NHS.
Person Specification
Essential
Masters level qualification or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience of health and care research management at a senior level, including Experience of business planning, financial management and operational implementation, preferably within an NHS organisation. Experience of contributing to the development of national policy or strategies, and translating those into regional plans.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to plan, manage, adjust and deliver complex programmes and projects, involving multiple agencies and individuals and a broad range of activities, to tight deadlines.
