About the role The Head of Rugby at Downsend School will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering an exceptional rugby program throughout the school. This position involves designing and implementing a progressive curriculum tailored to various age groups from Years 3-13, ensuring that our students meet targeted expectations while fostering a love for the sport. You will work closely with the Director of Sport and other department members to enhance teaching and learning within Physical Education (PE) and Games.
Key responsibilities include:
Staffing the rugby season effectively Creating an ambitious yet realistic fixture list Maintaining daily communication with the Games department Supporting extra-curricular activities, including weekend fixtures and enrichment opportunities such as tours and visits
This is a full-time, permanent position starting September 2025.
Who we are looking for: As the ideal candidate, you will be a strong Honours graduate in a Science discipline and an exceptional, qualified PE and Games Teacher who is passionate about their subject. You will demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build productive relationships within the school community. A passion for rugby, alongside a relevant coaching qualification, is essential.
