£45,000-£65,000 About Us: White Trees is a small independent school that specializes in working with pupils aged 11-18 years with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Role and Responsibilities: Ensure all systems are utilized in reporting and recording behavioral incidents. Provide end of term data to be captured in reports/analysis. Take part in strategic discussions and inter-agency meetings, and/or support other staff to do so, and contribute to the assessment of children. Manage referrals and refer cases of suspected abuse to the local authority children’s social care as required. Understand the assessment process for providing early help and statutory intervention, including local criteria for action and local authority children’s social care referral arrangements. Have a working knowledge of how local authorities conduct a child protection case conference and a child protection review conference and be able to attend and contribute to these effectively when required to do so. Update and review policies. Liaise with the Executive Head Teacher regarding incidents and concerns. Manage a team of DSLs including referrals and actions and monitor and manage CPOMS. Ensure all staff undertake regular safeguarding training in line with updates, including compulsory external training each year and that all safeguarding posters are up to date on school sites. Keep up to date with changes in Government legislation, including KCSIE. Liaise with the safeguarding Governor for advice when and where required. Robustly liaise with external agencies, ensuring referrals are completed in a timely manner and rigorously followed up. Attend Child Protection meetings and any emergency professional meetings/Strategy meetings which are called – logging information on CPOMS. Attend Governors meetings ensuring a full safeguarding report is complete – containing key updates - Physical intervention records – Incident analysis. Develop staff knowledge of safeguarding by sending regular scenarios out and ensuring they understand the systems in place. Hold fortnightly safeguarding meetings to discuss live concern students – looking at what interventions are in place and what support is around the child. Liaise with Deputies if social care referrals need to be put in place and support them in ensuring the referral is completed. Conduct pupil/parent tours for prospective students. Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, ingrained in mutual respect. Have a highly visible presence in the school to support the maintenance of a positive school ethos and positive behavior. Lead by example – show our pupils and staff what we expect from them, positive behavior and good manners. Maintain good relationships with pupils, parents, and professionals, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary. Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Executive Head. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings. Qualifications/Experience: QTS (essential) NPQH (desirable) Extensive experience in working with pupils who have SEMH of secondary age within a leadership position. Level 3 DSL trained.
