Our client, a service focused R&D and manufacturing company with sites throughout the North of England, seeks to appoint a

Head of Sales . Reporting directly to the board, the appointed Head of Sales will take direct ownership of the internal sales team who service existing accounts whilst ensuring their primary focus is on winning new accounts so the business continues to expand. You will need to have a proven sales background with demonstrable success within the rail sector. We are looking for someone who already has all the tools needed to identify who to speak with, get through to those people, and win business. We want you to quickly know the companies you need to sell to within rail, and the people within those companies you'll need to target, and be the person that can open the door and get meetings with those rail companies/contacts from a cold start. A background in electro-mechanical engineering selling a complex engineered system is required. It's a high value and high complexity sales cycle.

Promote and sell the full company product range to new clients Manage and grow existing business through personal activity and coordinating day-to-day and week-to-week for your team Arrange and attend client sales meetings Market Mapping and active targeting of new accounts

Head of Sales - Skills and Abilities

HNC qualified (or above) in an Engineering discipline preferred but not essential Proven track record in a sales role, with demonstrable achievements: they want you to land big accounts, and want to see where you have done that in the past Extensive experience selling to the rail sector Confident working in an autonomous role (you'll get supported but will be relied on to be the self-starter the team needs) to manage the day-to-day operations of the team whilst also delivering new sales
