We are seeking to appoint a principal lecturer in the School of Health and Society at the University of Wolverhampton to lead the well-established subject area of social work.

The department consists of a dedicated team committed to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange. You will be an experienced individual who has the ability to lead and manage the social work team in the delivery of the BSc (Hons), MSc, and apprenticeship pathways. You will be committed to ensuring excellence in the learning and teaching for social work students and will possess excellent leadership skills, with previous experience in leadership and management being desirable. You will have a good understanding of current and evolving clinical, professional, and educational developments in social work, as well as a team-focused, flexible approach. You will be an excellent communicator and able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Current registration with Social Work England is essential; you will hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching. The social work programme sits within the School of Health and Society. The post will be situated at Wolverhampton City campus, but you may be required to work across all university campuses, if necessary. You will have a good first degree or equivalent in relevant social work areas, together with a master’s degree and/or preferably a PhD in a relevant subject. You will also have experience in teaching and course management in the higher education sector and preferably senior fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. The ability to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the Teaching Excellence Framework, the Research Excellence Framework, the Knowledge Exchange Framework, and a commitment to innovative and inclusive education will be essential. The faculty has well-established links with professional bodies; therefore, membership and experience working with relevant professional bodies is also essential.
