Account & Relationship Management (Sales) Full time ABOUT THE ROLE The University of Sydney Union (USU) is seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Sponsorships / Partnerships to lead our revenue-generating efforts. In this key role, you will develop and implement strategies to maximize income across multiple streams, including membership, sponsorship, retail, hospitality, and events. This position is critical in supporting the USU’s financial sustainability and enhancing the campus experience for students. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a team to identify and execute commercial opportunities that align with our mission and values. We provide a wide range of services, events, and programs for students, including over 200 student clubs, major festivals, leadership opportunities, and more. As a not-for-profit, all our income is reinvested into the university community, making us a cornerstone of student life at the University of Sydney. WHAT YOU WILL DO Develop and execute the Sponsorships and Partnerships Business Plan to drive revenue and support the USU’s strategic goals. Lead and maximize revenue opportunities across diverse streams, including events, sponsorships, hospitality, and tenancies. Establish and nurture long-term strategic partnerships with corporate, government, and community organisations. Identify and innovate new commercial opportunities that resonate with students, the campus community, and stakeholders. Implement data-driven strategies, monitor performance metrics, and make informed decisions to optimize revenue potential. Manage and mentor a high-performing Sponsorships and Partnerships team, ensuring achievement of business objectives and personal development goals. Drive adherence to sustainability, social governance, and ethical standards within all commercial activities. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field. At least 7 years’ experience in commercial or business development with a focus on managing revenue streams. Proven track record in building and maintaining long-term partnerships with corporate sponsors or institutional partners. Strong skills in financial management, including profit and loss accountability and revenue forecasting. Ability to drive revenue from events, sponsorships, and space activations, and leverage digital and physical spaces innovatively. Experience in managing and developing a team to meet revenue and strategic targets. Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Commitment to USU’s values and a sustainable, student-centred approach. HOURS OF WORK This is a Permanent Full Time position, 35 hours per week.
