What will you be doing? Head of Strategic Expense Management Location: Dorking or Basingstoke (with hybrid working) About the role: Unum UK is hiring a brand-new role, Head of Strategic Expense Management. In this prominent role, you will be an influential and collaborative leader using your expertise to drive cost optimisation across the organisation, focusing on driving sustainable financial efficiencies and alignment with our strategic goals. You will work closely with our Change Team, functional heads, and senior leaders to identify efficiency opportunities, create action plans, and ensure accountability through robust tracking and monitoring. You will conduct in-depth analysis of spending patterns to guide decisions around profitable growth, influencing and challenging leaders to make commercial decisions. What will you bring? Key Responsibilities: Expense Management Strategy:

Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive expense management strategy. Vendor Management:

Support negotiations of vendor contracts to ensure value for money. Reporting & Tracking:

Develop metrics to track expenses and efficiencies and establish regular reporting of benefits realization. Process Improvements:

Transform current expense processes and identify appropriate systems and tools. Requirements: Qualified accountant with substantial post-qualified experience. Significant experience in expense management, preferably in financial services/insurance but not essential. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to see the big picture and align expense management with long-term business goals. Capable of building strong relationships and driving change across the organization. Skilled in analysing complex data to inform decision-making.
