Ardingly College is seeking to appoint a Strength and Conditioning Coach who will be responsible for the physical development programme across the College. This role involves implementing a comprehensive Strength and Conditioning (S&C) programme that caters to all students, ensuring age-appropriate physical development and performance enhancement. The successful candidate should have a high level of experience in playing and coaching in any of the College’s key sports: Netball, Hockey, Cricket, Football and Swimming. They will be required to take part in the sports programme throughout the week in both Senior and Prep Schools, supporting the Heads of Sport alongside attending Saturday fixtures. Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee an S&C scheme of work within the Prep School PE curriculum that is age specific and focuses on key generic and foundation movement patterns (Year 3 – 6). Oversee an S&C scheme within the Lower and Middle School PE curriculum (Year 7, 8, 9 and 10) that is age specific and builds on the work done in the Prep School. Work alongside the Senior School Heads of Sport in planning and providing adequate pre-season conditioning for the Pupils (Girls and Boys). Advise and consult with the Heads of Sport (Senior School and Prep School) in planning the pitch side S&C input during Games sessions throughout each term (Girls and Boys). Lead the Physical Assessment part of 11+, 13+ and 16+ Sports Scholarship Days, collating and feeding back the information. Devise an Elite S&C programme for the Top 80 elite performers/scholars from Year 7 – Upper 6th. Plan and devise an S&C programme for students competing in high level sports outside of mainstream sports like Cross-Country, Karate, and Triathlon. Develop a range of tests that can be used to assess physical performance. Oversee the dissemination of the Physiotherapy information to the relevant Heads of Sport. Devise and deliver injury management/rehabilitation programmes for athletes that are injured. Oversee gym inductions for pupils and staff. Provide the Heads of Sport with advice on player welfare relating to acute chronic workloads using our “Readiness to Train” model. Analyse and report GPS data back to the head of sports. Oversee the running of the Strength & Conditioning centre, ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils and staff using the facility as paramount. Oversee the staffing of the S&C suite. Coach in Games across the school, taking and coaching teams on a Wednesday and Saturday. Actively establish links with other Senior Independent Schools S&C colleagues to share ideas and good practice and feedback to the Director of Sport. Attend any relevant CPD on S&C in Schools.
