As the Head of Environmental Sustainability, you will be the driving force behind transforming how motorway service areas operate sustainably. This role is pivotal in leading the charge toward impactful environmental solutions, reducing carbon footprints, optimising resource efficiency, and embedding sustainable practices at the heart of every service area. You will spearhead a number of initiatives that not only meet regulatory standards but set the industry benchmark for green, future-proof operations. This role will collaborate with senior leadership, cross functional teams and external stakeholders and will be instrumental in shaping a cleaner, greener future for our network of motorway services across the UK. Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the company’s goals. Lead the company’s operational carbon reduction strategy with a target to achieve carbon neutrality (for Scope 1&2) by 2040. Identify and set innovative sustainability targets, ensuring they are measurable and achievable. Manage sustainability reporting frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Carbon Disclosure Project. Identify opportunities to improve the operational environmental impact of our MSA’s and support on inputs for business cases and delivery plans to achieve them. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into all projects and operations. Conduct life cycle assessments and manage carbon footprint reduction initiatives. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives. Prepare and present regular reports on sustainability/environmental performance to the executive team. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory reporting, environmental regulations and standards, and develop and manage sustainability policies and procedures. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains a leader in sustainability. Provide specialist advice on social and environmental issues. Foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation and work closely with the Communication team to change behaviours by winning hearts and minds. What We Are Looking For

Relevant experience in a senior sustainability role, within a similar industry. Strong knowledge of sustainability practices, regulations, and reporting frameworks. Excellent project management and organisational skills. Internal stakeholder management is vital so needs to be a team player who can uplift, motivate and communicate clearly. Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
