Equans is looking for a Head of Sustainability & Environment to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance and benefits package. This is a hybrid role. National travel is required. The Head of Sustainability and Environment is a senior role within the CSR department and is responsible for developing and implementing the organisation’s sustainability strategy. This role involves overseeing environmental initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting sustainable practices across the organisation. This role is crucial for driving positive change and ensuring the organisation operates in a sustainable and socially responsible manner. As a Head of Sustainability & Environment, you will: Team Leadership:

Manage and lead a team of social value professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring continuous development and growth within the team. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team. Ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals. Strategic Thinking and Alignment:

Develop and implement long-term sustainability and environment strategies that align with the organisation’s mission and values. Identify and manage environmental impact areas such as carbon emissions, waste management, and resource consumption. Regularly review and update the sustainability strategy to ensure it remains aligned with evolving organisational goals and external trends. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of sustainability initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement, Collaboration, and Communication:

Foster collaboration and buy-in from senior management across diverse operational business units and clients. Senior-level dialogue and communication skills are essential to fulfil this role effectively. Develop and implement communication plans to effectively convey sustainability goals and achievements to all stakeholders. Raise awareness of sustainability practices with all employees. Develop and lead on building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, clients, and regulatory bodies. Promote transparency and address sustainability concerns. Environmental Management:

Generate long-term positive impacts for local communities, the environment, and other external parties. Lead initiatives to reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint and enhance resource efficiency. Oversee the integration of renewable energy solutions and sustainable practices. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards. Corporate Governance:

Implement and maintain governance frameworks and policies from Central UKBU team. Ensure accountability and transparency in sustainability practices. Reporting and Compliance:

Oversee the preparation and publication of sustainability reports. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting standards. Utilise advanced data analytics to enhance the accuracy and impact of sustainability reporting. Work alongside the Central UKBU team. Risk Management:

Assess potential sustainability risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential sustainability challenges. Monitor risk and opportunities and update Corporate risk register accordingly. Monitor emerging trends and regulations in the sustainability landscape. Support the central team with the TCFD requirements. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Encourage and drive innovation in sustainability practices. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement and stay updated with the latest sustainability trends and technologies. What will you deliver?

Previous experience in sustainability, environmental management or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven track record of developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives. Experience with sustainability reporting framework and tools. A minimum of IEMA Practitioner or related membership/qualification. Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal teams and external parties. In-depth knowledge of ESG metrics, reporting standards. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Strong understanding of sustainability principles and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD). Familiarity with relevant sustainability and ESG regulations. Who are we?
