Full time Head of Sustainability & Environment

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, programs, and practices that promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship across the organisation. This is a new appointment to IWM and the post holder will have the opportunity to work with our Director, Estates to shape and implement IWM’s sustainability strategy and practices. Initially a standalone role, there may be future opportunities to grow a team. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute the company’s environmental & sustainability strategy in alignment with corporate goals. Lead initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of company operations, including energy use, waste management, and resource conservation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into business processes and decision-making. Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Engage with stakeholders, including employees, volunteers, customers, suppliers, and the community, to promote sustainability awareness and practices. Identify and pursue opportunities for sustainability innovation and improvement. Lead on the development and maintenance of sustainability policies and plans for specifying reductions in carbon and reliance on vital resources including energy, water and oil. Ensure compliance with local, and national environmental regulations. Oversee environmental impact assessments and audits. Collaborate with other departments to integrate environmental considerations into business operations. Manage environmental reporting and communication with stakeholders. Stay updated on environmental trends and best practices. Represent the company in environmental forums and with regulatory bodies. This is a new role to IWM and we anticipate there will be additional duties as the role evolves.
