Overview

Provides platform level technical leadership within Engineering, setting the direction for solutioning and ensuring that complex IT solutions align with overarching business objectives and long-term strategy. Directs the design and implementation of IT solutions at a strategic and comprehensive level.

The role

Directs the design and implementation of engineering solutions for a platform/domain, considering factors like scalability, performance, and energy efficiency. Recognised authority accountable for the definition of technical architecture. Leads and guides the leadership teams within Engineering for solution design. Contributes to and implements the principles and guardrails for technical architecture and ensures that these are met across different areas. Supervise the lifecycle management approach for hardware systems, from design to disposal. Owns, develops and maintains architectural blueprints and oversees the implementation of solutions from conceptualisation to deployment. Provides technical leadership and guidance to programme teams, ensuring that the solutions are implemented according to the architectural blueprints. Directs the effective reuse of technologies and features across all Arqiva's product and platforms. Negotiates with Engineering Managers to ensure the correct technologies are used within platforms and products. Collaborates with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to align goals, ensuring that the solutions are aligned. Ensures that solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure, meeting Arqiva's standards and compliance requirements. Aligns technical architecture with Enterprise architecture to ensure that data solution strategy aligns with the enterprise vision.

The person

Extensive experience in solution architecture or a related field. Proven track record in designing and delivering architecture solutions for connectivity systems and infrastructure. Comprehensive knowledge of architecture frameworks and best practices (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman). Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is advantageous.

Skills

Solution Architecture - Ability to design end-to-end technical solutions that integrate various systems, services, and technologies. Transmission Systems - Knowledge of transmission systems, equipment and technologies e.g. antennae, satellite systems. Operational Support Systems - Proficient in first and/or second line operational support systems and network management. Virtualisation & Cloud Computing - Proficiency with virtualisation and cloud computing e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud platforms. Communication skills - collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support. Analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues. Innovation & CI - ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
