We have an exciting opportunity to join our IT Team in Birmingham as Head of Technical Services and Security Team. We are hiring this position on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the IT Director, you will be responsible for strategically developing, maintaining, and supporting Gowling WLG's technical infrastructure, software, and cybersecurity. This encompasses data centre management, network and telecommunications infrastructure, IT compliance and end-point services. As Head of Technical Services and Security you will play a crucial role in the BIS Leadership Team, driving the development of Gowling WLG's IT strategy. The ideal candidate will excel in fostering strong relationships within the team and with key stakeholders across the business, guaranteeing the provision of top-tier infrastructure, security and support services. Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of endpoint estates and infrastructure, including laptops, mobiles, networks, servers, and storage systems. Developing and implementing security systems/policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard company assets. Vendor and budget management. Risk assessment and management. Technical Expertise Required:

Microsoft Technical stack, in particular but not limited to; Windows, Exchange, SharePoint, Hyper-V, VMWare, SQL Server, SCCM, Azure. Security policy development and enforcement. Network access control, Network security/segmentation, anti-threat/threat hunting technologies/techniques, SIEM platforms, cloud security and IAM. ISO 27001, 22301/Cyber Essentials experience/knowledge would be advantageous. Business continuity strategies/techniques (backup, disaster recovery and high availability). Virtualisation and storage technologies. Mobile computing infrastructures. Cloud technologies, particularly Azure. WAN topologies, technologies and network protocols. Telephony infrastructure and solutions. We seek an individual with a proven track record in security and infrastructure roles, along with experience in leading and managing multidisciplined technical teams. Your experience should include managing third-party suppliers from the RFP process through to performance management and SLA monitoring. Additionally, you should possess broad technological expertise in security management, IT compliance, data centre infrastructure, voice and data networks, mobile computing, desktop estate management and the support of all these components. For this role, you will bring outstanding analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users with clarity and ease. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced marketplace, showcasing a methodical mindset and exceptional attention to detail. You will adeptly navigate various internal and external challenges, consistently delivering high-quality service. With proven project management and multi-tasking abilities, we seek a team player who supports colleagues and managers, working collaboratively across teams with a flexible, customer and business-focused approach.
