The Role You will manage transportation, fleet operations and logistics across our five-site operations in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe to ensure efficient, effective and timely delivery. You will oversee and optimise our entire logistics network related to ITAD collections and redeployments, shredding operations, shipments, and on-site services. You will play an essential part in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve logistics performance. You will work with the COO to highlight opportunities to improve the quality of service the transport and logistics team deliver to the wider Vyta Organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ambitious to step up from a Transport Manager role. You will need to: Direct and monitor the day-to-day activities of the transportation and logistics team, including drivers, through your Logistics Manager and Team Leaders. Provide leadership and direction to the transportation and logistics team, including training, development, and performance management. Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party carriers, suppliers, and other partners to ensure reliable transportation services. Develop and implement transport and logistics strategies supporting business objectives and ensuring cost-effective operations. Analyse and optimise transportation routes and schedules to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards, environmental regulations, customs and transportation laws. Develop and maintain performance metrics to track and evaluate the effectiveness of transportation and logistics operations. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline transportation and logistics operations. Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and operations, to ensure seamless coordination of transportation and logistics activities. Implement sustainable practices for optimal efficiency and reduced carbon emissions across the group. Develop a continuous improvement strategy for the transport operation across Vyta to improve service levels and overall performance. Fleet Management You will: Be designated as the Transport Manager on our Operator’s License and ensure the license is in place. Be required to ensure compliance with all relevant transport laws and regulations. Be responsible for maintaining the standards of our fleet operations, overseeing vehicle maintenance and cleaning (while minimizing downtime), and ensuring the professional competence of our logistics operations, whilst demonstrating value for money. Be responsible for GPS systems and other vehicle monitoring systems. Play a pivotal role in upholding our commitment to safety, legality, and the highest service standards. Ensure all drivers and transport support staff fulfil their CPC regulatory requirements. Lead the rotational procurement of replacement vehicles and maintain the fleet to achieve the best operational decision and value for money. Assist in the recruitment of quality drivers. Be responsible for the registering and licensing of all company vehicles. Develop and implement strategies for greater fuel efficiency. Minimum Requirements: Hold a valid National & International Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and demonstrate continuous and effective management of our transport operations, as stipulated by the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995. Recent experience of being designated as a transport manager on an Operator’s Licence for multiple vehicles and ensuring continued compliance. Third-level qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or a related field OR five years of experience in a senior logistics role. Proven experience managing transportation and logistics operations, ideally in a multi-site, international environment. Demonstrable experience in transport management and knowledge of fleet and warehouse operations, as well as a strong understanding of WTD, transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices. Proven experience in creating a high-performance culture. Knowledge of vehicle planning and scheduling. Proficiency in transportation management systems and other logistics software.
