This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, on a rota basis, and there are no OOHs. The team:

You will be working in a friendly team of 5 Vets, 5 Nurses, two student nurses, and 2 Animal Care Assistants. Summary: If experienced, you will ideally be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases; an interest in orthopaedics would be advantageous but is not essential. We have a high exotics caseload, so ideally looking for a Head Vet who has strong exotics experience. Keen to take on a supportive role and demonstrate key skills including building strong relationships with clients, patients, and the wider team. Manage a team of 5 vets - supporting the vets clinically and managing the team in the daily running of the practice. Benefits of this Head Veterinary Surgeon Job: Bank holiday rota is shared equally 3/4 per year. Salary starts at £70,000 depending on experience. Salary for an experienced vet is dependent on experience - this can be discussed in the interview. 4.6 weeks annual holiday, raising to 5.6 weeks after 2 years of service, plus birthday off. £1,500 CPD allowance - CPD is encouraged. RCVS/VDS fees paid. No sole charge or out of hours. Large exotic caseload - increasing steadily as we are the only local exotic vets. Exotic equipment on site. Vet undertaking Exotic Certificate currently. 20% store discount. 35% discount on veterinary fees. Close to the motorway and 30-45 mins from two airports. An hour's drive to natural beauty spots such as the Peak District. Midlands based - easily accessible to major cities like Nottingham, Manchester, and London. Located close to the train station. What we're looking for from Head Veterinary Surgeon applicants: Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised university. Membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Previous experience as a veterinary surgeon is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary best practices and medical regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with clients and their pets. Ability to handle a variety of animals safely and effectively.
