Governance, Risk and Assurance Job Introduction

When it comes to health and safety for our colleagues and customers, it’s a number one priority for us here at Yorkshire Housing. We’re on the lookout for someone to help support our fantastic Health and Safety team in making sure that everything runs smoothly. You’ll be handling various admin tasks, helping put safety best practices in place, and looking for ways to improve. If you’re passionate about safety and want to make a difference, keep reading to find out more. We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go, so if you want to work for a company that is truly flexible and where you are valued, then this could be the role for you! What we’re all about

You can probably already tell that we’re not your typical housing provider! With around 20,000 homes (and more in the pipeline), we’re on track with our growth plan to build 8,000 new homes across Yorkshire. We’re dedicated to creating exceptional customer experiences along the way and are on a mission to build a culture that prioritises excellence, innovation, and customer obsession. What will you be doing?

As our Health and Safety Administrator, you’ll have the chance to get involved in some of the team’s key projects, such as managing the delivery of our lone worker systems and solutions, supporting and completing workplace health and safety inspections, and providing advice and carrying out DSE assessments for both office and home workers. You’ll also support fire wardens and first aiders, making sure everything runs smoothly and safely. With excellent interpersonal and organisation skills, you’ll be offering basic advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on health and safety matters, as well as managing health and safety portals and databases such as accident/incident management, risk assessment, contractor control, and lone worker platforms. You'll also be coaching managers and colleagues on how to use these platforms effectively. Additionally, the role requires producing quality health and safety reports and dashboards, taking meeting minutes, and compiling action logs. Monitoring key health and safety performance indicators, particularly training completion and delivery, is also part of the role, ensuring that Yorkshire Housing meets its legal, moral, and financial obligations. Who are we looking for?

The answer is simple - if you are hardworking, driven, and ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you. You’ll have a keen interest in Health and Safety, with strong organisation and analysis skills. You’ll work with teams across Yorkshire Housing and with external customers to ensure we meet our health and safety obligations, so being a confident communicator is a must. The ability to produce reports using a wide variety of data. Experience in using Microsoft Office packages at an intermediate level. Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to act fast and make great decisions for the benefit of the customer experience. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines, and manage conflicting priorities. An understanding of and/or experience of health and safety protocols and legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across a range of communication methods to build and maintain effective working relationships. What’s in it for you…

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in health and safety, if you're ready to take it. If you're early in your health and safety career, we can provide excellent mentorship, valuable hands-on experience, and the chance to be involved in exciting workstreams and projects. This is a full-time permanent role with a salary of

£27,395.97 per annum , for a 35-hour week plus 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays. We offer a reward package to suit everyone. At YH, you can claim back for prescriptions, eye tests, and more with our cash plan, make the most of a variety of retail discounts, and take advantage of our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%, just to name a few. Our people’s health and wellbeing are one of our top priorities, and you can make the most of our readily available wellbeing support package. This includes access to a library of free fitness classes, as well as an instant My GP service and free counselling sessions with a trained professional. Now you’re really interested?

At YH, we’re actively building a working environment that’s inclusive as well as diverse, where everyone can contribute their best work and be themselves. We believe difference is what makes us stronger and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities we serve, so we welcome and encourage candidates from all backgrounds for this role. We know that not all candidates will meet every single requirement. If your experience looks a little different from what we’re looking for and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you, so please apply! If you require any additional support with your application, or have any further questions, please contact our fab recruitment team via email at recruitment@yorkshirehousing.co.uk The fine print The closing date for applications will be

Tuesday 21st January 2025 , but we might close it early if we get lots of great candidates, so don’t hang around. If you’re applying for this role internally, you must inform your current line manager (it’s the right thing to do!).
