Job Description Role Purpose The health and safety manager supports the safety and well-being of employees and statutory compliance through risk management and implementation of best practice for policies, procedures and regulations. Subject matter expert in health and safety. Duties/ Responsibilities: Develop systems and programmes embedding safety within operational processes. Implement behaviour and condition-based auditing. Profile business risks and implement processes to manage them. Enhance recruitment and training materials. Develop leadership awareness for safety and management responsibilities. Manage and audit service providers supporting remote locations. Report to business leaders in internal and statutory compliance. Act as a critical incident advisor. Knowledge/ Experience: 5+ years of progressive safety leadership. IOSH qualification (Essential). Multi-site experience. Experienced in leading safety within logistics, warehousing or D2C environments. Current in statutory requirements and best practices covering environmental factors, manual handling, MHE, loading/unloading, contractor management, DSE, and incident investigation within a modern D2C/Warehouse environment. Experience in retail and office settings. Accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting. Key Stakeholders: Operational teams in Manchester. Facilities, L&D and functional leaders across operations, head office, and retail locations. External safety consultants. Legal and executive leadership.
