The bladder and Bowel team are looking for a Health Care Assistant to work as part of the community multi-disciplinary team supporting the life-changing care we provide to support the population of Brighton & Hove and High Weald, Lewes & Havens. We are looking for an individual with good organisational and communication skills, and be able to work under their own initiative and follow directions. You must be enthusiastic and dedicated to providing personalised care. Whilst we welcome applicants who have an NVQ in healthcare, not having a recognised qualification should not be a barrier to applying. It is your experience and willingness to learn we value. Bladder and Bowel is a multidisciplinary service which includes Specialist Nurses, Nursing Associate, HCA and Psychotherapist team members. Its aim is to improve health outcomes for people with bladder and bowel conditions by providing interventions to patients and by increasing the level of skills and knowledge within other SCFT service through joint working and education. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide health care, and support under the direction and supervision of qualified staff to patients living in the community. This includes assisting in the ongoing assessment and provision of care and reporting all changes in patient status to senior staff. Qualifications and/or Professional Registration

Good standard of education. NVQ level III in Health Care or equivalent experience Experience

At least 12 months experience of working in a caring environment, either in health, social or voluntary services. Basic numeracy and ability to write simple reports Skills and Knowledge

Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Ability to visit patients in the community unsupervised Ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels, including clients, carers, health and social care colleagues and other professionals. Competent ability to assist in the treatments of a wide range of conditions. Good use of reasoning skills. Awareness of holistic patient needs. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. Willingness to undertake job related training and multi-disciplinary competencies Able to prioritise and plan own workload. Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies. Ability to understand work related boundaries and refer matters of importance to a senior colleague Basic computer skills. Ability to prioritise routine work from a variety of sources, meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure. Ability to follow detailed instruction Ability to document efficiently and effectively Awareness of National and Local agendas pertinent to the service. Ability to perform venepuncture Experience of working with adults and/or experience of working in community or home care services. Basic understanding of statutory health and social services.
