You will be working with our clinical teams to deliver the best primary care healthcare service to our patients. HCA duties and clinical administrative work will be part of your normal day. Clinical responsibilities include: Assisting the Practice Nurse with annual reviews; such as hypertension, CHD, Stroke and Peripheral Arterial Disease, AF and a variety of other Primary Care / QOF required reviews New patient health checks and other health screening Urinalysis and preparation of specimen Routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Blood tests and phlebotomy Vaccinations including, but not limited to flu/pneumococcal vaccines Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as and when required, either alone or under supervision of the Practice Nurse Patient education and promotion of health and well-being, promoting NHS campaigns if needed Gathering lifestyle data from patients to ensure accurate record keeping along with educating or signposting to external sources to promote health and well-being Infection control and equipment management Vaccination management and clinical stock control may be required Administrative responsibilities include: Attend and participate in practice meetings as required Assist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being Assist with seasonal and other special projects as requested Other ad hoc tasks as required Person Specification
Experience
Experience of working within a nursing or HCA team Clinical Experience: ECG Diabetic Foot checks Height/weight monitoring New patient health checks in accordance with the practice procedure Vaccinations (under instruction of Medical Practitioner). Wound Care Management. Experience of working in Primary Care and using SystmOne Experience of working in a GP practice Qualifications
Qualified in Phlebotomy Health Care Assistance Certificates / Qualifications HCA skills and competency in ECG, NHS Health Check and working with patients with long term conditions such as diabetes, although training will be offered to the right candidate Qualified to NVQ level 3 GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
